New to the world of at-home testing with SheMed? Don’t worry — we’ve made the process super simple through guided telehealth sessions with every testing kit.

All you need is a smart device with video and audio capabilities and a good internet connection. The entire process takes less than 20 minutes, whether you’re testing for a UTI, a yeast infection, or bacterial vaginosis. Here’s how it works and what to expect when you test.

Order your testing kit.

It all starts with a test. If you’re experiencing symptoms and don’t already have a testing kit at home, you can order one via SheMed.com. It should arrive within two business days.

Here’s a pro tip: don’t wait until you’re experiencing symptoms to purchase a kit. Our testing kits last for up to two years, so you can stock up and be ready to test the moment you start experiencing discomfort.

Scan the QR code on your test kit to get started.

All of our test kits have a QR code on them that you’ll need to scan. Once you do, you’ll be able to access a live assisted session led by one of our proctors. You can do this from anywhere as long as you have a good internet connection and can access your smart device’s camera and microphone. You’ll also be asked to answer a series of questions about your symptoms. This questionnaire will be sent to a licensed clinician for evaluation along with your test results if they indicate an active infection.

Start your teleproctoring session.

Once your telehealth session begins, a proctor will help you validate your test and your identity. You’ll need an acceptable form of ID for this part, like a driver’s license. Then, the proctor will guide you on how to collect a sample and test it.

Collect and test your sample.

The sample collection process varies based on the kind of test you’ve purchased, but it’s not complicated. Everything you need will be neatly packaged and labeled inside your testing kit.

Wait for your test results.

This part takes about 15 minutes, max. Your proctor will submit your results, along with your questionnaire, for evaluation by a licensed clinician once the testing process is complete. If your results indicate a positive infection, the clinician will prescribe treatment and have it sent to your pharmacy of choice the same day. All you have to do is pick up your prescription. Easy-peasy.

No insurance needed.

One of the many great things about SheMed’s testing kits is that you don’t need health insurance to purchase or use them. A bundle of four tests is available here — that includes your teleproctoring session and the prescription process if your results indicate you need treatment.

In other words, they’re far more affordable than going to an urgent care clinic, whether you're insured or not. Considering that each test lasts up to two years, they’re a convenient and cost-effective way to test and get treatment for vaginal infections whenever symptoms arise.

Private, personal, and time-saving.

Our testing kits eliminate the need to schedule an appointment with your doctor or visit a healthcare clinic. You can test anytime, anywhere — from the comfort of your home, at work, or on the go.

And because the entire process takes less than 20 minutes, you don’t have to carve a big chunk of time out of your busy schedule. Treatment, if you need it, may be prescribed the same day, so you can get over your symptoms faster.

Causes and Nature of Yeast Infections

A yeast infection, also known as candidiasis, is primarily caused by an overgrowth of a fungus called Candida. Candida naturally resides in small amounts in the vagina, mouth, and digestive tract. However, certain factors can disrupt the natural balance of bacteria and yeast, leading to an overgrowth of Candida and causing a yeast infection. Causes and Nature of UTIs

A urinary tract infection (UTI) is an infection in any part of the urinary system, which includes the kidneys, ureters, bladder, and urethra.
